January 23-27

We had fun with art projects this week making "synonym" rolls, Geometry Snowmen, and beautiful synonym flowers with donated paint samples from Home Depot.  We learned about author's purpose in reading. We also enjoyed more Science lessons from Mrs. Mobley.  We began our poetry unit and the students are loving it! We will be inviting parents in for a "Poetry Cafe" in a few short weeks, once we are prepared to present our poetry. Be watching for an invitation.
Our "synonym" rolls

Mrs. Finn's Measurement Challenge. They had to get all pieces formed from just looking at the sample
and then make sure that the buttons were the correct measurements.

Gotta love our Charlie!!

We have our synonym flowers on the side of the paper facing into our classroom.

We have our snowmen on the back, facing the parking lot so the world can enjoy them!

Finn Funn January 16-20

This week in our classroom we learned many new things. Enjoy the photos below!

Students love the pattern game called Blink--and it only takes about 60 seconds to play- it is over in a BLINK!

Geometrical Shape Challenge- this was tough!

This is our beautiful Fact and Opinion Anchor chart about Indiana

Best Buddies!

Kindergarten Buddy Geometrical Shape Search! Mr. Morrison was in our room to help.

Geometry Enrichment Activity- such smart girls!

We had a guest speaker, Ms. Stewart, who discussed her amazing trip to Africa where she worked as a scientist.
She taught us about the big five animals,  how everyone else in the world pronounces "zebra" (ze-bra, not zee-bra),
and we got to see footage of how a giraffe drinks water. So interesting!

Finn Funn January 9th -13th

Our Literacy anchor chart on POINT OF VIEW

 "Find Your Partner" Geometry clues!

~Geometry Review of new vocabulary~

Enrichment project- "Find The Geometery in YOUR Name"  Students located parallel/perpendicular lines, acute/right/obtuse/straight angles, line segments, rays, lines, etc within their own names.
These children are so very clever!

Fred The Fish Science Activity. We listened to a story about a fish and colored his environment to match the clues. Poor Fred had a rough afternoon with all of the problems that he encountered on his swimming adventure. Our water supply must be preserved or we will be in trouble, too!

 Poor Fred!

We practiced our reading skills with our Kindergarten buddies this week.  We read to them, then helped them retell the story, practiced rhyming words, and looked at nonsense words for vocabulary development.

Week of January 4-6

What a great first week back we had.  Enjoy the photos below!!

We experimented in Math with popsicle sticks. We made perpendicular/oblique/parallel lines and acute/right/obtuse angles. It was great!

We also completed our Indiana History Scrapbooks. These were really fun!
